First of all, congrats! (I just love love!) Good news – of all the choices you have to make about your wedding day, the decision whether to get waxed is an easy one. Just say I do!
Here’s everything you need to know about getting smooth for your big day:
Why is waxing the ideal hair removal method for brides (or grooms)?
Waxing removes hair at the root, making skin flawlessly smooth. Plus, these awesome results last for weeks so you can cross shaving off of your wedding to-do list (and leave the razor at home for your honeymoon)!
How soon before the wedding should you get waxed?
If you’re already getting waxed regularly, you can book just a couple of days before the big event. (I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – maintaining a wax routine pays off!) If it’s your first time, it’s best to come in around 10 days before the wedding in case any irritation occurs, and then possibly come back for a touch-up a week later.
Which waxing services should you consider?
I think a Leg Wax is a must for every bride. Wearing a strapless dress? Get an Underarm Wax too! And for the honeymoon (or even just the “honeymoon phase”), you can’t go wrong with a Bikini Wax or Brazilian.
Should you trim ahead of time?
No! No, no, nooooo. No trimming. Ideally, hair should be at least the length of a grain of rice to get the best results and reduce the risk of irritation and ingrown hairs. Even longer is just fine too!
First time waxing? Here are some pre- and post-wax tips:
PRE-WAX
- Make sure hair is a quarter of an inch or longer
- Exfoliate and moisturize regularly in the week leading up to your appointment
POST-WAX
- Wear loose-fitting clothing
- No working out, sex, sun or spray tans for 48 hours
