The Do’s and Don’ts of Post-Wax Skin Care

The do's and don'ts of post-wax skin care

Getting waxed is probably the quickest, easiest way to remove unwanted hair. You’re in, you’re out, you’re smooth. But if you want to be smoother longer (and who wouldn’t?), there are a few things you can do post-wax to maintain your skin’s glow and keep irritation at bay. Read on for the do’s and don’ts of post-wax skin care.

The Do’s

Keep Skin Clean: After your waxing session, gently clean the area with mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water. This helps remove any residual wax and prevents infection.

Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize: Hydrated skin is happy skin! Use a moisturizer like our HYDRATE Body Lotion to keep your skin supple and prevent dryness.

Exfoliate (Gently!): Exfoliating can help prevent ingrown hairs, but make sure you wait 48 hours after getting waxed and opt for a gentle exfoliant to avoid irritation.

Wear Loose Clothing: Let your skin breathe! Loose-fitting clothing can prevent friction and irritation in the freshly waxed areas.

Sunscreen is Your BFF: Protect your skin from harmful UV rays by applying sunscreen to the treated area (and everywhere else that sees the light of day while you’re at it). Sun exposure can lead to discoloration and irritation, so shield yourself!

Sunscreen is especially important after getting waxed.

Sunscreen is an absolute must for sensitive, freshly-waxed skin!

Book Your Next Wax: Maintaining a regular wax routine that’s in-sync with your hair growth cycle is critical to maintaining smooth, hair-free skin.

The Don’ts

No Touching: Resist the urge to touch or scratch the waxed area. Your hands might carry bacteria that can lead to infections.

Say No to Hot Baths and Showers: For the first 24-48 hours, avoid hot baths and showers, as the heat can irritate the sensitive skin.

Skip the Gym (for a bit): Hold off on strenuous workouts for at least 24 hours. Sweating does not mix well with freshly waxed skin, leading to discomfort.

No Swimming: Chlorine in pools and bacteria in natural water bodies can be harsh on freshly waxed skin. Wait for a few days before taking a dip.

Stay Away from Fragrances: Avoid scented lotions, perfumes, or products containing alcohol, as they can cause irritation or allergic reactions on your newly waxed skin.

Follow these guidelines, and you’ll be flaunting your smooth, radiant skin with confidence for months post-wax!
