Hey, can we talk about self-care for a sec? There are myriad ways to show yourself some self-care love, and we’re always looking for inspo and ideas to share with everyBODY. So we decided to check in with our very own Waxxpot fam, because, really, who better to ask than a Waxx Specialist? Lucky for us, some are baring it all when it comes to their best self-care and beauty secrets.

  1. “Listen to your body. Get rest when you’re tired. Drink when you’re thirsty. Meditate when you need to be with your thoughts.”
    This tip is totally on point. Because as an article on Medium states, “Even though we don’t want to admit it, for whatever reason our bodies need a break…if we don’t listen to what our body is trying to tell us, we may end up with injuries, psychological distress, or other mental and physical impacts.” And evidence shows the more we pay attention to the messages our body is giving us, the healthier we’ll be in all ways: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, etc.
  2. “Always get your 8 hours of sleep.”
    Catch those Zzzz’s, everyBODY, because getting a good night’s sleep is vital for diet, exercise, and good health overall—it boosts your brain performance, mood and helps prevent the risk of many diseases.
  3. “Moisturize! It is SO important: Topical moisture is obvious, but you also must drink lots of water, too. Hydrate yourself inside and out.”
    Hydration is essential for mind and body on several levels. Drinking enough H2O on a daily basis helps organs function properly; improves mood and cognition; and distributes nutrients to cells. (Read genius hydration tips here.)
  4. “Sunscreen. Never leave the house without slathering on SPF. No matter your skin tone, sunscreen is one of the most important not-so-secret secrets to staying young.”
    So true. We knew sunscreen prevents premature aging of the skin, but this statistic is new to us: Studies suggest that those 55 years and younger who apply sunscreen regularly have a 24% less chance of developing discoloration, a breakdown of collagen (which leads to fine lines, sagging skin and wrinkles) and photoaging of the skin. (And, obvi, it goes without saying applying sunscreen cuts your risk of contracting skin cancers in half.)
