When it comes to hair removal, there are a lot of options out there. You probably know which one we prefer (waxing for the win!), but do you know why? No need to wonder, your Fairy Waxxmother is here to tell you exactly why waxing is the far superior method.
Waxing vs. Sugaring
The process of sugaring is similar to waxing, but uses a sugar paste and removes hair in the same direction of growth (waxing removes hair in the opposite direction).
Why is waxing better?
Waxing works well for all hair types, whether super fine or coarse and thick. Sugaring will get those hairs eventually, but it might require several passes. Because of this (and the fact that the sugar paste has to be repeatedly re-applied), waxing is also less time-consuming and cheaper than sugaring.

Waxing vs. Threading
Threading uses a cotton thread in an entwining, twisting and rolling pattern to essentially lift hair, either individually or in rows, from the root.
Why is waxing better?
The process of threading leaves little room for error and is a slow, meticulous process. Waxing is faster, less painful, gentler on hair follicles, and the results last longer. No contest, really.

Waxing vs. Shaving and Plucking
We’re all familiar with shaving and plucking because we’ve all been there! That means we’re also all familiar with the major pitfalls of this method (namely ingrown hairs, staying on top of hair growth, and spending hours of your life in the shower or in front of a mirror).
Ouch! Resist the urge to reach for the razor. Waxing is the way to go.

No cuts. No razor burn. A shorter morning routine. Flawlessly smooth skin. The list goes on. Plus, I can’t stress enough how much hair removal should be left to the pros. If you’ve ever plucked your eyebrows into non-existence, you understand.

Waxing vs. Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal uses pulses of laser light to damage hair follicles, often completely destroying them.
Why is waxing better?
Laser hair removal is effective and often permanent (but not always) if you follow through completely with all of your appointments. However, it’s not an option for everyone. If you’re pregnant, on certain medications or are prone to breakouts – steer clear. Laser hair removal is also more time-consuming and expensive than waxing. And it could take months before you see results (I much prefer the instantly-smooth skin you get after waxing!).
